For every child, protection

UNICEF Pacific Multi-Country Office is establishing a roster of international consultants to support the implementation of its Child Protection Programme in 14 Pacific Island Countries and Territories for the remaining time of its current programme cycle. Required areas of expertise include: child protection policy development; child protection social welfare services; child protection in education; child protection in health; child protection social and behavior change; and child protection in emergencies. Professionals included in the roster will be shared detailed Terms of Reference matching their areas of expertise throughout the period, and provided the opportunity to confirm their interest in being considered for specific consultancies.

III. QUALIFICATIONS

Area-specific

Areas #1 & #2

  • Advanced university degree in social work (Bachelor's or Master's)
  • In addition, Master's in management of social welfare services an asset
  • Experience working with government child protection statutory authority/services essential

Area #3

  • Advanced university degree in education

Area #4

  • #4.1 Advanced university degree in public health
  • #4.2 Advanced medical degree

Area #5

  • Advanced university degree in the social sciences, in particular behavioural sciences, psychology, anthropology, sociology, communication

-#5.2

  • Knowledge of Christian scriptures

Area #6

  • Advanced university degree in social work or psychology
  • Experience working in emergencies in the area of child protection

Applicable to all consultancies

Professional experience

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in the relevant area of expertise
  • Previous experience providing technical assistance to governments

Competencies/Skills

  • Demonstrated facilitation/training skills
  • Excellent communication skills, speaking and writing; in particular, ability to communicate technical concepts, knowledge and skills in a clear, simple and jargon-free language; ability to present information in a well-structured, logical manner
  • Adaptability, flexibility, cultural sensitivity, tact, diplomacy, patience, respectful attitude
  • Excellent writing skills, analytical skills and ability to formulate strategies and concepts
  • Previous experience in Pacific Island Countries or with PICT communities living abroad an asset
  • Excellent spoken and written English
